Linda Veech is a client who can testify to Allstar\u2019s follow-through on their company ethics. A resident of Woodlake Condominiums in San Mateo, she noticed a nearby unit was undergoing an extensive remodel, which she also wanted for her home. She stopped by and met Avalos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI liked him right away,\u201d Veech said. \u201cHe struck me as honest and sincere.\u201d She took a look at what the crew was doing, and was very impressed. So Veech hired Allstar to completely gut and redesign her kitchen and bathroom, as well as doing some additional work in other rooms. New permitting laws required that the electrical panel be moved from inside a closet to a wall, all of which Allstar completed, passing the required electrical inspection. An older-style tub was replaced with a modern shower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Avalos accompanied Veech on several shopping trips, helping her decide on cabinetry and tiles. \u201cAnd he picked up everything for me!\u201d she said. Allstar also communicated exceptionally well with the condo complex\u2019s management, who needed to be kept apprised of remodeling updates. Allstar can often finish a remodel, with full inspections, much more quickly than other contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yet another way Allstar has maintained and grown its original mission of \u201cInnovations\u201d is by continuing to expand locally and winning the \u201c2023 Next Door Fave Award.\u201d This award is only given to the top 1 percent of local businesses on NextDoor and is a testament to the positive impact they have had on their community. And now, the advent of AI is opening up even more possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Allstar also is committed to being as green as possible. Digital imagery and software reduces the need for paper. For decks and railings, instead of redwood, they frequently advise the use of Trex, made from an eco-friendly blend of 95 percent reclaimed wood and plastic film, because of its water, warping and termite resistance. \u201cIt\u2019s also much easier to clean,\u201d Avalos said. Fiberon, another composite material, is one of their top choices for exterior siding. The company takes great care that all materials from a work site are sorted and disposed of properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most requested projects continues to be Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), said Avalos. They can be one of the best ways to add value to a home, he noted. This might mean converting a garage or a shed into a tiny home or a basement into an in-law apartment. Changes in California law that ease restrictions on ADUs have made them an attractive option to generate \u201cpassive income.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n And full home remodels, home extensions and additions are also top requests. One client, who worked with Allstar on a Silicon Valley property, flew the partners to Hawaii to look at possible construction projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The young Allstar partners are aware that the construction\/contracting industry is losing workers much faster than it can replace them.
